DIAGNOSING ACRAL LENTIGINOUS MELANOMA
Dermoscopy can be used to help clinicians correctly identify lesions that have a high likelihood of being malignant. It does so by facilitating the visualization of subsurface skin structures which are otherwise not visible to the naked eye.
Depending on what is seen from the dermoscopy, a biopsy may be performed. In general, biopsies should always be considered for lesions suspected of cancer as they can confirm the diagnosis and/or help to classify the tumor into high-risk or low-risk malignancy.
