Falyn Katz, CEO, Melanoma Canada

At Melanoma Canada, our work is guided by the people who matter most—patients, caregivers, and families navigating melanoma and skin cancer. Every initiative we undertake is rooted in our mission: to provide support, education, and resources, while advocating for early detection, timely diagnosis, and effective treatment.

This summer, our teams, with the partnership and support of the Canadian Dermatology Association and member Dermatologists, have been travelling across Canada to make a tangible impact. Over 6,200 people and counting across Alberta, British Columbia, Ontario, and Quebec have received skin cancer screenings aboard the Mole Mobile, presented by Neutrogena®. At some locations, hundreds lined up for these walk-in clinics, highlighting the urgent need for accessible screening services in communities nationwide. For many, these screenings were far more than routine—they were potentially life-saving interventions.

“My wife and I are very glad we visited, as there are things for both of us that we need to attend to. Thank goodness for this service. Early detection in a convenient and easily accessible way was wonderful.” – 2025 Mole Mobile Visitor

But screenings are only one part of the story. With just 800 dermatologists serving nearly 40 million Canadians, the demand for more access, better tools, and more specialists grows every year. As a proud partner of the Mole Mobile, the Canadian Dermatology Association joined forces with Melanoma Canada this summer to launch a national petition calling for stronger dermatology care. Sign this petition today so more patients get the care they need, when they need it.

Information and education are essential pillars of support. This summer, we released the 7th edition of our “Melanoma: What You Need to Know” guide, our most requested guidebook to date. Patients, caregivers, and healthcare professionals rely on this trusted, easy-to-read resource for clear and comprehensive information about cutaneous melanoma, the most common form of melanoma, including diagnosis, treatment options, and supportive care. Explore our support and resources for anyone, anywhere.

Beyond screenings and resources, we continued to provide ongoing support through online chat, email, and phone, as well as peer-to-peer programs, patient support groups, and one-on-one cancer coaching. This fall, we are planning additional patient information sessions to ensure that everyone affected by melanoma has access to timely guidance and support, no matter where they live.

Prevention remained a key focus. Our SUN AWARE Certification Program and our new Sun Guardians Grant Program help organizations turn knowledge into action, creating sun-safe environments for children and youth. This summer 34 programs and more than 2,800 youth benefited from the program’s sun safety supplies.

None of this is possible without the generosity of our donors, sponsors, and volunteers. Your support allows patients to access life-saving screenings, vital information, and a network of care when they need it most. Together, we can provide hope to those impacted by melanoma and skin cancer.

As we look ahead to fall, our efforts continue through the Smash Out Skin Cancer Tournaments and Golf and Grill Tournament events, bringing communities together while raising awareness and resources for patients. Get involved today by donating, fundraising, hosting an event, or volunteering today, and bring hope and support to over 91,000 people in Canada who are impacted by melanoma and skin cancer.

Every screening, guidebook, fundraising event, and patient connection brings us closer to our vision: zero melanoma and skin cancer-related deaths.
