The Skin Spectrum Summit returns in-person! A full day of education on providing optimal dermatologic care for patients with skin of colour.
Melanoma Canada – Abigail Wiggin

As the united voice of the melanoma and skin cancer community in Canada, we are dedicated to advocating for patients, as well as providing medical professionals current and coordinated information and services. As a result, we are proud to have developed two new physician education programs that focus on the presentation and detection of melanoma and skin cancer in patients with skin of colour.

Early detection is essential and people with skin of colour are often diagnosed with an advanced stage of melanoma, leaving them to face far worse health outcomes. This is in part due to a significant educational gap in how physicians are taught to detect melanoma and skin cancer on darker skin. Melanoma Canada wanted to address this care gap and provide physicians, as often the first set of eyes detecting melanoma in patients, with the confidence to effectively detect and diagnose patients with darker skin.

We are thrilled to be attending the 8th Skin Spectrum Summit, a landmark educational congress of healthcare professionals dedicated to providing better dermatologic care for Canada’s diverse populations, to share these courses. We’re even more thrilled to be presenting our new courses to healthcare professionals who are equally as passionate about emphasizing dermatological care for Fitzpatrick skin types IV-VI as we are.”
