Earlier this month I had the pleasure of chatting with Heather Hogendoorn. In April 2019, Heather was diagnosed with melanoma, which was discovered to be stage 3a. She is a mother of two, teacher, photographer and avid blogger on all things sun safety.
Heather shared a great deal of knowledge, including some easy sun safety tips for parents to follow, not just during the summer months, but all year ‘round.
One of my favourite tips was how she has converted her backyard into a shade haven. Adding that little bit of additional protection while her kids play allows them to enjoy the outdoors while staying sun-safe.
She also spoke about teaching her kids at a young age, and making it fun while they put on their sunscreen, hat, sunglasses and UV protective clothing before heading out.
I hope you all enjoy the video, and be sure to share these important tips with your family and friends.
