Bringing Skin Cancer Screenings to All 10 Provinces
PRESS RELEASE
Toronto, April 16, 2026
Melanoma Canada is proud to announce the launch of its 2026 Mole Mobile Coast to Coast Tour presented by Neutrogena®, an ambitious expansion that will bring free, potentially life-saving skin cancer screenings to communities across all 10 Canadian provinces.
Building on the success of previous years, the 2026 tour marks the first time the Mole Mobile will deliver coast-to-coast access to early detection and education. The initiative provides critical screenings to Canadians who might otherwise face long wait times, or lack access to a dermatologist.
Beginning May 1 and running through October 31, 2026, the Mole Mobile will travel from the Pacific to the Atlantic, with more than 130 stops planned in communities across British Columbia, Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba, Ontario, Quebec, New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, Prince Edward Island, and Newfoundland and Labrador. The tour will prioritize underserved, rural, remote, and Indigenous regions, as well as urban centres with limited access or long wait times to see a dermatologist.
Delivered in partnership with the Canadian Dermatology Association (CDA), board-certified dermatologists will volunteer aboard the Mole Mobile to provide free screenings, educate Canadians on sun safety, and reinforce the importance of early detection.
“Dermatologists across Canada are united in the commitment to save lives through early detection and education of skin cancer. The Canadian Dermatology Association is proud to partner with Melanoma Canada in advocating for access to care for all Canadians, no matter where they live. Initiatives like the Mole Mobile bring our expertise directly to communities, ensuring that early detection—and the chance to prevent advanced skin cancer—is within everyone’s reach,” said Dr. Mark Kirchhof, President, Canadian Dermatology Association.
Presented by national sponsor Neutrogena®, the 2026 tour aims to significantly expand its reach following a record-breaking 2025 season that delivered more than 8,000 screenings across four provinces. This year, the program is targeting more than 15,000 screenings nationwide, continuing to address critical gaps in access to dermatologic care across Canada.
“The expansion of the Mole Mobile to all 10 provinces is a pivotal step toward equitable access to early detection,” said Dr. Julia Carroll, National Mole Mobile Chair, and Member, Board of Directors, Melanoma Canada. “By meeting Canadians where they are, we can identify skin cancers earlier, improve outcomes, and ultimately save lives.”
The Mole Mobile is the first initiative of its kind in Canada. These mobile skin cancer screening units are transforming how care is delivered by bringing access directly to communities. Screenings will take place across the country, where visitors will also receive education on self-examinations and sun protection practices to help reduce their risk of melanoma and other skin cancers.
“For the past three years, Neutrogena® has been proud to partner with Melanoma Canada’s Mole Mobile, supporting skin cancer screenings and public education in communities across the country,” said Katie Decker, Managing Director, Kenvue Canada. “We remain committed to advancing sun-safety education, and supporting the important work Melanoma Canada is doing for Canadian families.
Building on Proven Impact
Since its launch in 2023, the Mole Mobile has screened thousands of Canadians and identified a significant number of suspicious lesions and melanomas:
- 2025: 8,289 patients screened | 985 suspicious lesions | 222 melanomas identified across four provinces
- 2024: 2,356 assessments conducted, identifying 1,392 high-risk individuals (BC + QC)
- 2023: 4,078 patients screened across 42 Ontario communities, identifying 772 suspicious lesions
With melanoma incidence rates continuing to rise and the Canadian health care system experiencing a critical shortage of dermatologists, the need for innovative solutions like the Mole Mobile has never been greater.
“Melanoma and skin cancer incidence rates continue to rise in Canada and around the world. Expanding the Mole Mobile Tour across Canada allows us to reach more Canadians than ever before with screenings, early detection and prevention education,” said Falyn Katz, CEO, Melanoma Canada. “With only 800 Dermatologists serving a population of 40 million+, this initiative helps to close critical gaps in care and provide a potentially life-saving service to thousands of people.”
Melanoma Canada will continue to ensure that patients with lesions of concern receive timely follow-up and care, thanks to a partnership with Rocket Doctor, helping to reduce pressure on the healthcare system and improve patient outcomes.
