In May 2023, Melanoma Canada’s Mole Mobile hit the road in Ontario with a life-saving mission – to lead the way in early detection of skin cancer. Covering 42 cities and 8,192 kilometres, the Mole Mobile it has performed 4,078 skin checks and referred 772 suspicious moles or lesions for follow-up care. We couldn’t have done it without our incredible patients, dedicated volunteers and dermatologists, and generous partners and sponsors.
It’s time to share our journey, express our gratitude, and call on your support as we continue travelling across Canada to provide free skin cancer screenings to cities with longer wait times to see a dermatologist as well as underserved communities, rural areas, and Indigenous regions.
OUR 2023 JOURNEY
The Mole Mobile has journeyed from major cities such as Toronto, Ottawa, and Kitchener to remote and indigenous places like the Algonquins of Pikwakanagan, North Bay and Sudbury, providing free skin cancer screenings.
Our impact has been widely covered in the media, raising awareness for the importance of early detection and prevention of melanoma and skin cancer. This media coverage plays a vital role in educating Canadians. Early detection saves lives, and public awareness campaigns like Melanoma Canada’s Mole Mobile are making a significant difference. The Mole Mobile empowers individuals to take control of their skin health. Remember that prevention and sun safety go hand in hand with early detection – protect yourself by seeking shade, wearing sun-protective clothing, using sunscreen, and avoiding indoor tanning all year long.
We invite you to continue sharing your journey with us. Connect with our Patient Care Specialist, Abigail Wiggin, by emailing awiggin@melanomacanada.ca. Your stories matter, and together, we can make a difference.

WHAT PEOPLE ARE SAYING
“The entire experience was fabulous and the doctor on duty was very knowledgeable and approachable – he answered all my questions completely.” – Patient, October 31st
“I have been wanting to check some lesions for some time but was hesitant for a few reasons. The Mole Mobile made me commit to getting it done in a convenient and quick way. I also learned more about the different types of lesions. This unit is a really great way to help people and spread the word about skin cancer.” -Patient, October 23rd
“I had a melanoma removed two years ago (my 4 siblings have had some as well). I’ve been unable to get follow-up visits for screening. I didn’t realize how much the stress of seeing spots and not knowing if they were cancerous was weighing me down. I’m so grateful for being able to attend and ask all my questions and get a head-to-toe check. Thank all of you! I came home after the appointment and donated immediately. ” -Patient, August 29th

But why is early detection so important? In 2022, 9,000 Canadians were diagnosed with melanoma, and skin cancer cases have been on the rise for decades. With limited access to dermatologists, many face long waits for screenings and diagnoses.
The Mole Mobile has been a game-changer, it is helping speed up the process of getting patients the care they need. Nearly 20% of skin exams resulted in potentially life-saving interventions. Early detection is key, with a 98.4% survival rate for melanomas found in the earlier stages. Your support can help us save more lives.
As part of its ambitious plan, Mole Mobile will continue to visit different parts of the country, aiming to visit provinces, ensuring that skin cancer screenings are within reach for all Canadians. Together, we can save lives. Learn more and donate today at molemobile.ca.
